Mary Katrantzou for Topshop

Spring/Summer 2011
Anyone who is remotely interested in fashion would have at least heard of the name Mary Katrantzou or have laid eyes on her intricate prints. The Athens based designer with her hyper-realist aesthetic that consists of a kaleidoscope of architectural graphics, prints and colours is definitely flourishing with every season. Her signature style revolves around 'Trompe L'oeil' and the digital prints of oversized jewellery printed on dresses creates an amazing optical illusion.

Not everyone can afford such expensive pieces from Ms Katrantzou herself which is how the Mary Katrantzou for Topshop collection was born. The collaboration is pure genius because where else can you get an absolute explosion of floral prints and the mindbogglingly combination of colours? My favourite definitely has to be the vase shaped 'Pheasant Dream dress' (below left) where the mixture of prints creates an almost porceline and china-like texture. This dress is so popular it's been worn by Poppy Delevigne at the 2012 Elle Style Awards and Alesha Dixon to the Birmingham Britains Got Talent auditions.

  2. Let me start at the beginning.

    1 Your header is AMAZE.
2 That Phaesant dress is absolutely gorgeous, but I feel like you need a certain body figure for it to 'fit' you, otherwise it looks like you somehow drowned in it.
