OUTFIT POST: Kanagawa

Dress: Sara Phillips (shop HERE) ... Ear Cuff: Molten Store (shop HERE)
Sunglasses: Seafolly ... Shoes: Wittner Shoes

So often we see wave prints depicting a tropical paradise. A pristine ocean broken by transparent swells. But now, riding waves has another meaning.

Sara Phillips' Summer 2013 DUNE collection features a print inspired by the famous Japanese (ukiyo-e) woodblock painting 'The Great Wave off Kanagawa'. Designing a dress around such a universally recognised piece of artwork surely has its difficulties.
However Phillips gets it right. The fit and flare panels and curved neckline, in my opinion, mirrors the majestic movement of waves. Not only that, it shows off the intricate design process and craftsmanship put into this piece.

Lastly, I'll be going to Australian Fashion Week (MBFWA) in April so stick around for runway coverage. Can't believe it's been almost a year ...
