Spring is synonymous with incredible floral blossoms - a sign of the upcoming warmer weather. With the soft breeze replacing chilly winds and the extended Sydney sunshine (thank you daylight saving), I thought it was appropriate to try out a new metal. More subtle than yellow gold, rose gold's tinge of pink made it the perfect base for this spring edition of 'Accessories Edit'.

With a couple of weeks left of Sydney's winter, today we're celebrating sunshine and vitality. Heaps of natural lighting, what is left of my summer 2013 tan and the gold necklaces handpicked by yours truly captured my longing for warmer weather. In contrast to the last 'Accessories Edit' post which focused on winter knits with boho jewellery, I'm braving the cold and styling these three neckpieces with swimwear. Perhaps I chose the easy way out when face to face with the dilemma of what to wear; in this case, not much at all. I mean we'll let the jewellery details speak for themselves.

Throughout my high school years the extent of my accessorising consisted of a lonely silver pendant - the only appropriate option considering five days a week in school uniform. But here I'm reigniting my love for layering necklaces courtesy of The Dark Horse who kindly lent me some of Nicole Richie's creations for House of Harlow. I'm featuring one of her most iconic and best selling pieces - Sunburst - and tied the look together with the motif of triangles and geometric shapes.

I'll let you in on a little secret - I was wearing pajama pants and pink fluffy slippers while shooting this. My neighbours must think I'm the weirdest person.

Accessories Edit: Boho Winters

I was once told it is the 'accessories that make the outfit'.

Taking inspiration from this quote, I'm starting a new segment Accessories Edit where I style my favourite jewellery pieces giving you an up close and personal view of their delicate details. The chosen pieces will be put into a creative context; whether it be colour coordinated with props and clothing or showing a unique spin at wearing certain styles in different seasons.

To kick off this chapter I've picked some gold pieces from Circa and Real Leaf Jewellery all connected by a bohemian aesthetic. Featuring natural elements such as leaves and animal references, the pieces itself scream breezy summer festivals. But here I'm subverting the generic styling of denim cut offs and crop tops. Such boho pieces can brighten up a winter outfit and look refreshing yet cosy paired with a heavy knit.
In this instance, I'm working with a colour palette of sky blue and fuchsia to compliment the gold tones. The tea cup was included for good measure considering this is a winter shoot; a prop that surprisingly went well with the overall look. I sat there for a good half hour holding the cup close to my face but never actually drinking out of it. If that's not awkward I don't know what is ...
