OUTFIT POST: The Advisor

Shirt: Stray for Roger David ... Singlet: ASOS Australia ... Chinos: Country Road
Hat: Fallen Broken Street ... Sunglasses: Quay Eyewear Australia
Socks: Country Road ... Shoes: Shubar for Hype DC

Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival has now come to an end and I am pleased to say that my very first experience at an actual fashion shows didn’t disappoint. The pieces were amazing, the atmosphere addictive and the fashion, left, right and centre, all too inspiring. But the moment engrained into my psyche was not that of the silhouettes or nuanced details of the clothing, but the eye-opening advice given by a man bunked beside me in the shrouded media high-riser.

Unfortunately I have totally forgotten the name of this masked man (I know, what an idiot) but his American accent and extensive knowledge of the fashion industry is that which should be admired. From our passionate exchange, the thing that stuck me the most was education – education of who and what each designer is, means and stands for; and to how their collections and pieces have come to fruition.

So with that said and done, this outfit was my attempt at dressing myself in labels and pieces that I have conceptually learnt about – trying to educate myself on where a piece or design has come from, what it means and the inspiration behind it.

Fashion is about knowledge and understanding. It is not simply just ‘what looks good’ or ‘what looks bad’ – but the emotion, knowledge and heritage weaved within its threads.

With that said, from top to toe, the labels I am wearing are: Fallen Broken Street, Quay Eyewear Australia, Stray for Roger David, ASOS Australia, Country Road and Shubar for Hype DC.

I look aimlessly out towards the ocean taking in the beautiful sights which linger outside. As gentle rays of sunlight cast its golden rays into my shrouded room, it feels almost mandatory to take this perfectly peaceful moment to pen my thoughts.

But when I sat down to write this, to which I was hoping to share something that might appear profound in nature, I thought to myself: do these people even know who I am? Like the quiet, shy and too often awkward plus one at a party, I myself, in this situation, am the unfamiliar, unorthodox face in the crowd.

With that, you are probably wondering “who this hooligan?” So, to shed some much-needed light on such questions, here I am – in all my nerdy glory.

I’ve never been good with introductions; I tend to ramble and stutter through the most awkward of small talk. But to overcome this insecurity, for your sake and mine, lets just say that we have already met and that this isn’t uncomfortable. *nervous laughter*

So ... my name is Marvic – as you might already know. I have black hair, skinny legs, caterpillars for eyebrows and a weirdly dorky/sassy personality. I am basically an older version of Sharon but without the element of cool. I’m 19 years old – as of about a week ago – and reside in the beautiful Eastern Suburbs of Sydney. So yeah, you get the picture.

As for the photos, I don’t feel it is all that relevant to this convoluted babble. But I hope it does let you glimpse into my shockingly weird, self-proclaimed nerdy and odd personality.

OUTFIT POST: Light Leaks

Sweater: Nique Clothing … Chinos: Roger David
Shoes: Vans … Necklace: Topman

As the eerie grey skies open up above the bustling Sydney streets, it seems almost inevitable that my mind grows nostalgic of the warmth and sunshine of the Australian summer. This unruly sense of longing for days filled only with sun, smiles and some much needed R&R is all that is ever-present this time of year. It is in moments such as these that I am truly thankful for the occasional, one-off days which seeming defy the dreary winter weather which too often plagues Sydney.

As I have instagrammed time and time again, my yearning for the days of summers passed is all that my arching heart desires. But instead of sitting here like an absolute dork, crying pathetically over something which is irrefutable out of my control, I have settled for the next best thing: photographs – of which, I’ve decided to share with those of you who are equally as needy as I am.

So here I impart to you the gift of a gorgeous sunny day which I hope will somewhat mend your broken heart, fill that empty void and reconstitute some form of happiness as you too, long for the days of the Australian summer.

As the gentle rays of golden sunlight shone softly through the twisted branches of the tree top canopies, as the sound of laugher and chatter sweetly synthesized with the ambient noise around me, in that exact moment, all that I could comprehend was the feeling of absolute bliss.
