For my entire teenage life I stayed away from leopard in the fear of either looking like a halloween joke, a wannabe cougar or like a belonged in a zoo. But sometimes a certain piece can change your perception. My case in point; the clever asymmetrical shape and splicing of materials on this skirt reversed many of the stigmas I associated with animal print.
As such, when transitional dressing takes its form in layers and pops of blue, I thought it would be appropriate to introduce a subtle hint of leopard. A trick to styling animal print is to make it an accent that compliments the other elements in the outfit. I've found that leopard print looks especially chic during autumn when paired with denim or a woven knit as styled above. Contrasting it with different textures such as leather (or vegan leather/pleather/PU), cable jumpers or even silk chiffon can be equally as effective. Just keep it subtle and tasteful to avoid being chased down by zoo keepers holding a net and a tranquiliser gun. By then you know you've gone too far. Way too far.
